Best Garden Photo 2026
New for 2026, visitors to Open Gardens day were invited to enter the Best Garden Photo competition, with photographs taken in the open gardens on the day and judged by a panel of three local judges.
The Winner

Bee at work
The judges felt this entry was technically impressive, capturing a moment in the busy life of the bee.
The Field Scabious flower is captured in all its astonishing detail, and the simplicity of the image is appealing.
Highly Commended

Poco enjoying his day out
These two images were Highly Commended.
Two of the judges felt this was a charming image of a four-legged guest at Open Gardens. We believe it was taken via a glasses camera, which gives it an additional cachet.

It's a moth!
The judges loved the concentration on the girl's face, and the animated explanation being given by our moth expert.
The framing pulls the eye towards the moth, which is climbing on the girl's hand. This is a photo that captures a particularly successful part of our Open Gardens event.
