This car park is owned by Old Hunstanton Golf Club and operated by a sub-let agent. Community Car Scheme

This scheme was started in 2003 by the Burnham Market Surgery and the Countryside Agency and came into being in 2004 with the support of local Parish Councils.

The Co-ordinator, Mrs Daphne Potter, can be contacted
Monday to Friday from 10.00am to 12.30pm on 01485 525511.

The postal address is Holme-next-the-Sea Village Hall, Kirkgate, Holme-next-the-Sea, Norfolk PE36 6LH. At least 24 hours notice is required.

The main villages covered by BMACCS are Brancaster, Brancaster Staithe, Burnham Deepdale, Burnham Market, Burnham Norton, Burnham Overy Town, Burnham Overy Staithe, Burnham Thorpe, Holme-next-the-Sea, North Creake, South Creake, Stanhoe, Thornham, Titchwell and Wells-next-the-Sea. (There are two other Community Car Schemes in the nearby area - Heacham and District and Great Massingham).

The scheme operates during daylight hours and generally on week-days and is mainly used for travel to hospitals - Queen Elizabeth, Norfolk and Norwich, Cromer, Wells-next-the-Sea, Papworth, Addenbrookes etc. Also covered are GP Surgeries - Burnham Market, Fakenham, Hunstanton, Wells-next-the-Sea etc. Journeys are predominantly health-related and include dentists, physiotherapists, opticians etc. - but the odd regular local shopping trip may also be covered.

The passengers pay 40p per mile to and from their door with a minimum charge of £2. Return mileage from the driver's home to the passenger's home is again 40p per mile and this comes out of BMACCS funds.

The scheme is totally reliant on funding from Burnham Market Surgery, local Parish Councils, Norfolk County Council, King's Lynn & West Norfolk Borough Council plus various other sources including fund raising etc.

Domestic Fuel Oil

There are a number of suppliers of Domestic Fuel Oil in the area. There is really no fixed pricing system - the buyer is free to phone around in order to obtain the best price. Some suppliers have a minimum quantity of oil which they will deliver and others sometimes charge a premium for smaller quantities. Generally speaking, the minimum quantity you could expect to have delivered is 500 litres.

In Holme-next-the-Sea an Oil Syndicate was set up by a resident in 2011. The target is to obtain a lower price for oil by buying in bulk.

Once you have registered with the organiser you will receive an email monthly asking if you want to be included in the current order. If you do not need oil you have no need to reply. If you need oil you should reply and state the quantity you require (minimum 500 litres). Once the bulk order has been placed you will receive a further email advising you of the price per litre, the name of the supplier, their telephone number and the date of delivery. The buyer has to pay the supplier direct.

The bulk order is placed on the first Thursday every month.

To register with the syndicate, or to obtain more information, please click on the link to email the organiser: Holme-next-the-Sea Oil Syndicate.

Event signs

Norfolk County Council advises that, generally speaking, it is illegal to place signs on the verges of the public highway - unless the verge, fence, garden etc. is privately owned. However N.C.C. goes on to state that it is mindful that it has long been the practice for signing to be provided within the highway for local 'events' which are part of local life and highly valued as such. These will include village fêtes, flower festivals, garden open days and so on where funds are raised for local purposes or charities.

A scheme exists to allow for directional signing to such events, so long as some simple conditions are met. These conditions cover such matters as the siting of the signs, the length of time they can be in place and their size.

For full guidance notes covering the scheme, and to download the Council's "Application for Consent to Erect Event Signs in the Highway" form please Click here.

Police

The force responsible for policing and crime prevention in this area is Norfolk Constabulary.

In an emergency always dial 999 from any phone.

An emergency is where life is in danger; a serious offence is in progress; a suspect is at a scene; an alleged offender is identified at any location; there is an imminent likelihood of violence/damage to a person's property or there is a serious road traffic collision.

For all non-emergency calls simply dial 101 from any phone.

This new number 101 is to replace the old 0845 456 457 and can be used to report a
non-emergency or to discuss other matters.

It is hoped that the use of the 101 number will improve access to the police and ease pressure on the emergency number 999. The new number is to be used to contact the local police force to report non-emergency crimes, anti-social behaviour and disorder or to speak to a local police officer. The 101 service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Calls from landlines and mobile networks will cost 15p no matter what time of day or how long the call is.

Deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired callers will be able to access the same service via textphone on 18001 101.

(If you tie up an emergency line for something that is not urgent, you could be preventing help reaching someone who needs immediate assistance.)

Text Messages
To send a text message SMS to Norfolk Constabulary use 07786 200777.

Online
To get in touch with the police about general enquiries, recruitment, compliments and complaints you can contact them online at www.norfolk.police.uk

NOTE
Do not use the online contact form in an emergency.
In an emergency always dial 999.

Email
If you prefer, you can email the police at enquiries@norfolk.pnn.police.uk
